Do not be stuck with the conventional print materials like postcards, flyers, brochures and catalogs just because you think you cannot afford the large format types. Digital printing has made it easier for business owners to choose the kind of materials that they want for their promotional gimmicks. But even with such comfort, offset posters still offer a different kind of glee.
Digital versus Offset
When it comes to posters, both printing methods give out quality output. Although offset has been around longer than the digital process, these two printing types have proven effectiveness in their own rights. There are some comparisons that can help you in deciding which will fit better on your needs and on your budget.
1. Color accuracy. Because offset has been used for a longer period of time than the digital process, its output in terms of color accuracy is more defined than the digital kind. But this doesn’t really say that the output of the digital process must be frowned upon. The technology is still evolving. People are learning how to improve the process. And as time goes by, the quality becomes better.
2. Turnaround rate. You cannot expect your offset posters to be done as fast as how your digital posters will be processed. The digital technology offers printing with the next day delivery. This means that if you have an immediate need, you don’t have to stress yourself just so you can accommodate the deadline. The digital process if your best buddy when you find yourself in such dilemma.
3. Quantity. If you only need some pieces of posters, you can rely on the digital printing technology to process your order. This is not possible when it comes to the offset type. Printing companies set a minimum number of orders for this kind, which is usually at 500. Printing companies need the materials to be in bulk in order to start the printing process. While the digital technology is easier that is why it doesn’t require a minimum number of materials for the printing process to start off. It allows your materials to be printed directly from the PC.
4. Size. With the digital process, the sizes of posters can be up to 60 x 100. This is ideal for tradeshow displays and other kinds of festive exhibitions. The size of posters for the offset kind is limited to 27 x 39. This will already suffice for presentations, movie posters, announcements and the likes.
5. Cost. Offset is more affordable than the digital kind. The reason for this is because the materials are done in bulk. So after examining the other factors mentioned above, this is an important consideration that you must look into.
Whether you choose to have offset posters or the digital kinds, the important thing here is that you have taken the effort to advertise. In marketing, you need to experiment with the types and kinds once in a while. This way, people will not get bored with what you are presenting to them and the manner you do so.
